Sustainable development through

software engineering and digital transformation

SE4DT

Workshop Description and Goals

Digital transformation reorganizes current companies and reshapes the society infrastructure. Significant challenges for Information System Research is the study of the overall effects of the ongoing digital transformation of society. The transformation has also a direct implication for the development, maintenance and operation of software intensive products.

Software development and digitalisation are an integral part of the modern society, shaping virtually everything from the objects around us to the ways in which we communicate.

Software Engineering and Digital Transformation focuses on developing advanced knowledge and expertise for the design and development of software and digital services and the digital transformation of business processes.

Digital transformation in this context refers to the change associated with the application of the software engineering body of knowledge (SWEBOK) for the transformation and modernisation of digital assets of business and industry domains.

In this workshop, we would like to invite researchers and practitioners to discuss the role of software engineering in digital transformation for a sustainable society in the 21st century. The goal of the workshop is to share best-practices, experiences of successful initiatives, discuss empirical outcomes and novel tools, techniques, and processes to build up and strengthen the community of interest in software engineering.

The workshop aims to :

●    Build an international community for future cooperations

●    Identify future challenges and opportunities, based on current ones, related to software engineering and digital transformation for sustainable society

Workshop Topics

  • General

    • Digital Transformation relying on software processes and architectures

    • Adoption of technologies (AI, VR, Big Data, Blockchain, Big data analysis, etc.) contributing to sustainable society

    • Strategic Innovation and TechStart-ups for sustainable digital solutions

  • Specific

    • IoT and edge computing for sustainable smart city solutions

    • Continuous software delivery with BizDevOps for sustainable businesses.

    • Dependable cloud based solutions for sustainable services.

    • Green and sustainable software ecosystems in the digital era.

    • Cybersecurity for sustainable development.

Submission Guidelines

Authors should submit original, unpublished research papers. All papers must not simultaneously be submitted to another journal or conference. There are two types of submissions:

  • Full Paper submissions have a maximum of 12 pages.

  • Short Paper submissions have a maximum of 6 pages.

Papers and abstracts should be submitted through the submission web site in PDF format. Authors should follow the Springer formatting for Lecture Notes on Computer Science as indicated here:
http://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines

By submitting a paper, authors implicitly agree that at least one of them will register to the conference and present the paper. It is expected that at least one author will register for each accepted paper. Only papers that have been presented by their authors during the conference will be published in the conference proceedings.

The proceedings of the I3E 2019 workshops are planned to be published as a book with the main conference proceedings by Springer-Verlag in its Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
